This tissue paper heart is so fun to make! The repetitiveness of it is mindless and soothing. Put on your favorite podcast, movie, or music and let’s get started!

If you want to keep going after making this heart, you could make some smaller pieces to hand out to friends.

Tissue Paper Heart Supplies

Cardstock
White tissue paper cut into 2″ squares (They don’t need to be exact, just approximately the same size.)
Red tissue paper cut into 2″ squares (Again, don’t need to be exact here either!)
Marker or pencil
Craft glue
Ribbon or twine
Hole punch (optional)
Scissors

Step-by-step Directions

You can follow along with the steps below or watch the steps in this video:

Step 1: Draw half a heart on the long side of one piece of cardstock and cut it out.

Card stock with half heart drawn on it

Step 2: Use that piece to trace another half heart on the long side of your other piece of cardstock and cut that out.

Step 3: Glue the 2 pieces together with a thin line of glue and let dry.

Step 4: Punch holes on each side of your heart top. If you don’t have a hole punch, you can use scissors to poke holes.

Step 5: Use an envelope or ruler to make 2 parallel lines and write your X and O within those lines.

Step 6: Add glue to one section of the X. You don’t want to add glue to the whole design yet because it may get dried out before you can get to it.

Step 7: Take a piece of white tissue paper and place your marker or pencil (eraser end) in the center of the tissue paper square. Twist the tissue paper tightly around the marker/pencil.

Step 8: Push the end of the twisted tissue paper onto the glue. Continue this step until you have the entire X and O filled in with the white tissue paper.

Step 9: Fill in the rest of the heart using the red tissue paper squares in the same way you filled in the X and O.

*If you watch my video, you’ll see that I start skipping around to different sections of the heart while adding the red. I found it’s easier to adhere the tissue paper around sections that have already dried. That way you’re not moving the wet pieces around while you add others.

Step 10: Tie your ribbon or twine around the holes and hang!

So stinkin’ cute!!! If you make this, please let me know in the comments below!
