The other night, I found myself in a bit of a mental struggle. I was trying to remember the name of the lead actress in the Halloween movies.
Jodie Foster? No, that’s not it. Jane Fonda? Definitely not.
I had the first letter right, but her name was just beyond my grasp. If it had been a Squid Game challenge, I would have been a goner.
I spent a few minutes racking my brain, growing more frustrated as the answer refused to come. Then, a small voice in my head whispered, “Relax your mind, and it’ll come to you.”
So, I did. I let go of the frustration, took a deep breath, and boom—Jamie Lee Curtis! The name popped into my mind as soon as I stopped trying so hard.
This moment got me thinking about manifesting. Often, the harder we try to force something into being, the more it slips through our fingers. But when we relax, let go, and trust that it will come to us, things tend to fall into place naturally—just like Jamie Lee Curtis’ name did.
So let’s talk about how to manifest by letting go – to detach from the outcome so your desire will come to you.
Let Go and Let the Universe Do Its Thing
When you’re manifesting something, whether it’s a new job, relationship, or a personal goal, it’s easy to get caught up in trying to control every tiny detail. But sometimes, that need for control can actually block your manifestation from coming to you.
The key? Detachment. Stop worrying about how or when it’ll happen. Just trust that it will happen.
Once you’ve set your intention, it’s like placing an order with the universe. You’ve done your part. Now, you need to sit back, relax, and trust that it’s on its way.
This doesn’t mean you should just sit around doing nothing—you still need to take aligned action. But it should feel natural and enjoyable, not forced or filled with stress.
Detachment Doesn’t Mean Giving Up
Detaching from the outcome doesn’t mean you stop caring about your goals or give up. When you detach, you’re signaling to the universe that you trust things will work out, and you’re open to how they happen.
It’s like planting a seed. You don’t keep digging it up to check if it’s growing. You water it, tend to it, and trust that, in time, it will sprout.
The same goes for manifesting. You’ve planted the seed with your intention. Now, nurture it by trusting that it’s growing, even if you can’t see it yet.
Frustration Blocks Your Manifestation
It’s easy to get frustrated when your manifestation doesn’t show up as quickly as you’d like. But here’s the thing: that frustration lowers your vibration.
When your vibration is low, you’re out of alignment with your desire, and it’s like hitting a pause button on your manifestation.
Feeling frustrated or impatient is normal—it’s part of being human. But the key is not to stay in that space for too long. Learn to shift back into a state of trust and alignment.
This takes practice, so be patient with yourself.
How to Detach: A Simple Trick
When you notice frustration creeping in, the first step is to acknowledge it. Then, redirect that energy. Find an action or affirmation that works for you.
It can be as simple as clapping your hands or doing jazz hands. Even forcing a smile releases dopamine to help get you out of that negative space — anything that helps lift your mood and vibration.
Another powerful tool is a mantra. Try saying something like, “I know it’s coming, and I’m good with it arriving in whatever way it’s meant to.” Repeat this throughout the day whenever you feel doubt creeping in.
Manifesting Challenge: Detach and Trust
Now, are you up for a manifesting challenge? Let’s test this technique out!
Here’s what I want you to do: I’m going to name three objects. Choose one—whichever one feels right to you in this moment. Ready? Here are the objects:
- A purple car
- A pair of roller skates
- A duck
Close your eyes and picture your chosen object in your mind. Notice its color, its shape, and how it would feel to touch. What kinds of sounds does it make?
Visualize every detail as clearly as you can.
Now, for the next day or two, start looking for your object. You might see it quickly if you had a really strong visualization, or it may take a little time.
If you don’t see it right away, notice how you feel. Do you get impatient? Frustrated? Maybe start to think manifesting doesn’t work for you?
Here’s the key: once you start feeling those negative emotions, let go.
Detach from the outcome.
Stop looking for the object and trust that the universe will bring it to you. If you feel frustrated or doubt yourself, laugh it off, use your action (clapping or jazz hands), or use your mantra: “I know it’s coming, and I’m good with it arriving in whatever way it’s meant to.”
Then, see what happens. Let go and trust.
